Joining Pack 98

If you have a son, age 7 to 11, in any of our participating schools,  you will receive a flyer about Scouting around the time school starts in the fall.  It will tell you where and when registration will take place. If you don't receive a flyer at school, or wish to join after the fall registration period,  please reach us by e-mail to our Cubmaster. Come to registration night for information about Scouting and to fill out your registration forms.  You will need to bring cash or a check for your registration fees.

Homeschoolers may go to their neighborhood school Pack or Pack 98. If your son does not attend any of our participating schools, check the Unit Locator to find the appropriate Pack for him.

The yearly dues for Pack 98 are about $30.  That includes dues for the national organization, and a subscription to Boys’ Life, a monthly magazine for Scouts.  You may also be asked by your Den leader to contribute a small amount for craft supplies.  Our fundraising activity is selling premium quality popcorn products in October.  Boys who participate in popcorn sales can attend summer Scout camp at reduced cost or no cost, depending on the camp they attend.

Your son will be assigned to a Den (8 boys or so), with kids from his school whenever possible.  You and your Den will decide when and where you will meet every week.  The Pack, (all the kids in all the Dens) meets at the church on the third Thursday of every month.  The Pack Meeting is a fun hour full of activities where your son will receive his badges and other awards, and where you can get current information about upcoming activities.

Uniforms help to build a sense of community and discipline among the boys. The uniform items we require are the shirt and the neckerchief.  Optional pieces like hats, belts and trousers are also available.   Blue jeans or other trousers may be worn, but they should be clean and in good repair.  Baggy, torn, or low-hanging pants or shorts are not acceptable parts of the Scout Uniform. Caps other than the uniform cap should be left at home. The Pack has a small collection of used shirts available. You may buy uniforms and other supplies at Scout stores in Ft. Collins, Greeley and Boulder.
